If anybody goes to JP's Thanksgiving show in Westchester there's going to be a few MAB exclusives signing which means MAB employees , if not the Queen herself, at the tables with them. Ask them what's going on. MAB customers have been too loyal to be treated this way.

Tover it's over . I have given mab a lot of money over the years. A very good customer of theres. But it's over . The writing has been on the wall for a few years now . Even when there is a show its turns down . Start with 30 athletes and by show time there's like 10- 12 . 6-7 shows a year turn into 2-3. Cooperstown and brining players around the country is what they do now . Will you get lucky with a met or Yankee show hear and there? Maybe . But for the most part the old mab as we know it is gone . All they promote on there main page is new exclusives, stuff there trying to sell and shows in places like St. Louis and Minnesota. It's over , it's sad , but it's over the way there true fans and customers remember it being .

I hope Jeterman is incorrect but the evidence is quickly pointing in his favor. This year was far from a banner year show wise, the Yankee show was a major disappointment from my perspective and I havent had a need to go to any other MAB shows thru out the year (The first time I've said that in almost a decade)
2 things really bother me though:
1. Mollie, Laura and the staff used to actively engage the collectors on this board, I havent seen any posts from them in quite some time.
2. A few years ago, MAB used their on authentication service. I have at least a dozen items with MAB certs and no place to verify them. If they have discontinued this practice at least build a portal on the site to check what has already been certified or offer customers the opportunity to bring back these items at an upcoming show and pay to have them certified by JSA or PSA.
I really loved MAB and its value proposition in the market, I hope they return to form soon.

They focus on the out of town shows now, to the detriment of any NJ show. They assume almost no risk as the promoter of the out of town is paying the bills. MAB collects their fees for providing the guest and does their usual back room items for themselves at those shows. When they do their own shows, they have to worry about all the costs associated with doing a show. And they've never been good at that part. Its pretty evident by the deterioration of the MAB shows over the past 5 years. Anyone who has gone has seen it firsthand.
That said, I don't think there's any chance of the Yankee show not happening. Regardless of how bad it was in Jan. 2015 - and it was incredibly bad according to EVERYONE except MAB themselves who said it was "gangbusters", I don't think there's any chance of the 2016 Yankee show being cancelled. It's more the fact of, again, MAB focuses on the out of town shows and even moreso than ever this year. They simply haven't had time to do anything for the Yankee show. Think about it - MAB has been involved with at least 11 shows that I know of over the past 11 weeks if you include this upcoming weekend with JPs Thanksgiving show. There's only 1 week within that that I don't think they were at a show Oct. 17-18, unless I missed something.
Iowa Field of Dreams Sept.19 Fanatics Washington DC Sept. 26-27 JPs White Plains Oct. 3-4 CSA Oct. 10-11 JPs Hofstra Oct.24-25 St. Louis show Oct. 24-25 Fanatics Philly show Oct. 31-Nov. 1 Boston show Nov. 7-8 Mets show Nov.14 Fanatics Chicago show Nov. 20-22 JPs Thanksgiving show Nov. 28-29
I'm sure that's great for them, but for those wondering why the Mets show lineup was lackluster and the show was not run well, look above for your answer. Its pushed back work on the Yankees show so far as compared to past years, that its going to be quite a task for them to put together a good show. Add to that, that most of the "gets" as far as guests go have been lined up for winter signings by Steiner, it will be even tougher. On top of all that they seem determined to launch an auction site this week. It just looks like NJ shows have gone by the wayside. We'll be lucky to see a Yankee show and 1 other show during the year from here on out. It's a shame but given the trend in quality of the most recent shows, its probably better off.

I'd also like to comment on what I see as a deterioration in the quality of Yankee shows over the past few years. Last year was terrible as they only had their typical 1970's stars, except Reggie and Guidry cancelled. The year before was pretty good with Clemens and O'Neill but still a lot of cancellations. This year they had Mattingly and Ford at the Mets show (why? ?) so unlikely they make another appearance at the Yankee show. The crowds have been unbearable and obnoxious with no organization by MAB to the flow of autograph traffic as they call the names out. Last year wasn't bad because there was no one there. The customer service from the MAB staff is typically cold and aloof, as if you are bothering them. What MAB should really do is partner with Steiner so they can get some of their names that do sign privately like Sabathia, A-Rod, Mariano, Torre, Teixeira, Pettitte, Matsui, etc. You have to go to the Steiner signings on Long Island if you want those guys. They NEVER appear in jersey. But Mollie will never do anything with Steiner, or vice versa, and I'm not sure why. Instead, this year (if they even have the Yankee show), will be your typical 70s guys like Gossage, Randolph, Lyle, White, Nettles, etc. with some no-names sprinkled in. Back in the day they even had some current Yankee stars like Torre, Pettitte, Posada, Cano, etc. It would be nice to get a Greg Bird, Luis Severino, Gary Sanchez, Didi Gregorius, Dellin Betances, Michael Pineda, etc. But they won't. These shows really have died and Mollie doesn't seem to care. A real shame.

As far as Whitey goes, he comes to New York for Thanksgiving, he was going to be here anyway. So him being at the Mets show was not what will keep him from the Yankees show. The fact that he did the appearance at all was surprising. At his age, you do not want to wait to get him until the situation accomodates you perfectly. He does not travel much at all anymore. And I know from speaking to his son in law, that he won't come up in the winter months (Jan, Feb).
As far as the Steiner/MAB thing, I have no allegiances to either. I don't consider going to Island vs. going to New Jersey a big deal if its someone I need AND the price is right. I'll be going to Steiner for Brosius - way less than what MAB charged for him. If MAB had someone worth going to their show for, I'd go to that as well. They did not have one guest along those lines for me last year though. Steiner has just about every good name coming in this month that can be had. I really have no idea who MAB can get at this point that will grab my attention. I'm not going if the lineup ends up being what I suspect it will be - the same old 77/78 guys and the 20th anniversary of the 1996 bench players.
But I suspect that the show is going to be as bad as last years lineup. They need to do something big to make sure that doesn't happen. It's going to take a lot to avoid a repeat of the last Yankees show. The focus should be on moves like the ones below. I'm sure there are others, but off the top of my head...
*Kenny Rogers - Jeter, Mariano, Pettitte, Posada, Bernie and Torre are not going to happen as much as some would love it. Cone is also now Steiner exclusive. MAB always does the anniversary theme, so its pretty obvious 96 would be part of this year. Rogers is the name to get. Have heard nobody has brought him in due to asking price - give him his ransom, lots of people need him *Matsui - MAB alluded she could get him a few years ago but still hasn't *Chien Ming Wang - his career looks like it may be over. Should be brought in before he winds up back in Taiwan *Alfonso Soriano - seems like nobody has been able to lure him in - could be a tremendous get *Goose - wouldn't be the biggest get but he hasn't done an area appearance in a while and I've seen him requested a lot recently *Stan Bahnsen - there are only 4 living Yankees ROY winners and Bahnsen is one - he hasn't done an area appearance in 5 years *Dick Tidrow - the best way to keep the 77/78 guys from getting stale is to bring in a toughy like this. Another guy who has been the bane of many collectors. Like Rogers - pay the ransom. I'd throw Messersmith in here but he just won't do it, not a money thing. Could raise sales for the other 77/78 guys - seemed to be the case when Fran Healy came in. *Offer a quality free autograph guest

Some of you know me and some don't. I've not posted here before because for all intents and purposes I'm out of the hobby after what seems to be eons. I've known Mollie for a couple of decades. We've been very tight and we've been on the outs. While it would seem like this is a good opportunity to pile on and verbally abuse the crap out of MAB it just doesn't square with the woman I know. I have no insight as to what is going on and why this is all happening (or not happening). I will choose option B and pray that nothing serious, health or business or personal, has befallen Mollie, her family or her staff. I'm not defending I'm just giving an alternate possibility and even at that there should have been communication on this board between MAB and their customers and there hasn't been.

I saw Mollie and her husband at the JP's Hofstra show last month. MAB was in attendance, as she was representing Carlton Fisk, Tom Glavine and Don Sutton. I didn't get the chance to speak with her because she was busy with the guests, but everything seemed alright at the surface. Has anyone tried calling the office?

Call them for what ? What do you think there gonna tell you ? They don't care about there core customers anymore . I don't know what most of yall don't get. Mab's great big shows are over. Who can they get that others like Steiner, jp's , gtsm , csa doesn't get? They don't care about making there own shows anymore. It's about moving there exclusives and other athletes that may not be there's but they are able to bring into other promoters shows across the country. Miracles on ice, woman's soccer stars, Rick flair/hulk hogan, woman's softball stars, etc.etc. etc. They do everything else now except put on big Jersey shows and communicate with there core hometown customers anymore . It's a shame, it's sad, it is what it is. But no shedding a tear hear. I built my collection very high from mab in past years and continue to multiple my collection thru Steiner, jps , csa , gtsm and other companies . There's always someone who will bring in someone I want or need that's for sure .

Glad they focused on getting that auction site launched instead of adding guests for the Yankee show. Every item has a starting bid at full retail.

The wind in the trees says the overall theme of the Yankee Show is going to be the 1996 team. Wow, how inventive.

Can't say I needed to wait for the wind in the trees to figure that out. Anyone with a third grade math education can figure out MAB's Yankee themes. But if they're going with JUST 1996 and nothing bigger than that, its gonna be as bad as last year. Core 4, Bernie, Cone and Torre all Steiner exclusives. So if the show is just gonna be at best, O'Neill (if), Tino (if), Boggs and the 96 bench/bullpen plus Reggie, Winfield, a few retread 77/78 guys and then the fillers like Shantz and Blomberg, forget it. Gotta get my attention and that won't
