And where exactly is Matsui. It was alluded to that he was "local" a few years back but he's still never been to this show.

Lmao I remember Mab saying don't go to Steiner for matsui the weekend of the Mab Yankee show he's local we'll have him easily at one of our upcoming future shows. Lmao it's how many years later? Never listen to what a promoter says . Always go get who you want no matter who the promoter is or you might just miss out. Glad I went to get my matsui autograph !!!

It was January 2013 - 4 years ago. Steiner had Matsui. MAB had Brosius. MAB said come to our show because Matsui is local now so we will have him soon enough. Never happened. But you know what did happen? That's right, Steiner had Brosius in 2015, for about 50% cheaper than the price MAB had him for.

But like they just said the company moved away from its core fan base. The same core fan base that Helped build this company to where it is today. I laugh when they say they only do a few shows a year hear now. A few shows???. You mean one show. The same retread Yankees a couple of new hof'ers and the karate kid caddy shack crew. But it's ok when they need us again let's see how many of us are left.

Hello All,
Boz, I apologize. I went back and reread the thread. As I said I'm pretty sick and was out of the hospital for an hour when I wrote that post. I welcome constructive criticism. I'm just tired of the same old people criticizing. And I went back and reread prior posts and you have always bn supportive of us. If you choose to come to the Yankee show, please say hello to me.
As far as Steiner, believe it or not, for the first time in MAB's 11 years we are working with Steiner. I am very excited. We have added Bernie who is their exclusive. They have offered me Tyler Austin but he's kinda expensive. Can I get some feedback on this?
As far as Matsui, he's a Steiner exclusive which no one told me about when I was trying to get him four years ago. I've asked them and they say he's hard to commit.
Guys I do value my customers but I don't want to do several shows in New Jersey. I'm going to be very honest. I don't like the front part of shows. I love dealing with the customers but I hate dealing with the vendors. Always trying to get a better deal. I'd rather be the supplier of the players and continue to build my company that way.
And lastly, I'm sick of hearing that it's the same old players and than that person asks for Dick Tidrow. He won't even blink at a $15,000 offer and he'll sell less than 100 autographs and the company loses $10,000. That's not what I'm gonna do. These lesser names that u ask for just don't work unless it's a theme.
Anyway thanks and Boz, again my apologies.

Mollie,
No worries. Again, hope you are feeling better.
Regarding Austin, if the price isn't right? I'd pass. He just did 2 shows on Long Island. Roosevelt field and a card store in Suffolk county. His traffic at Roosevelt field was light. He was a great kid and awesome to the fans but if the price isn't right then I wouldn't do it.
Me personally, I think you would be better served looking at players from the 98, 99,00 and 09 teams as these themes haven't been beaten to death like the 70s championships and even the 96 team which has been Recycled quite a bit
Guys like the following
Nick Swisher (he'd do just as good as Damon) Ricky Ledee (lives in the Philly area, hasn't done a show in year) Dave Robertson (don't need him but he'd do well) Luis Polonia GlenAllen Hill Roger Clemens Denny Neagle (lets reschedule him!)
Bernie is a nice add but he just did JP a few months ago. He's another local guy. You've always been known as the company who gets the unique ones. Think Irabu, 1st to get Brosius, 1st to get Soriano 1st to get Damon. Knoblauch etc... That is why some are frustrated this year. This lineup is a break from that
New guys appearing are the people who "bring me" to the show. I come to the show for these kinds of names. While I'm there then maybe I'd buy a ticket for a Boggs or Coney...that's always been my pattern.

Also, I don't know why some promoters including MAB do not offer a discounted trading card price. You'd be surprised how much traffic and mail order would pick up for that.

Boz,
I want to bring new names but here's how I feel about Bernie I was half the Bernie deal in white plains. I feel that JP's and I don't have the same client base. Really. When I go to their shows I might know 20 people so I feel he hasn't done my show in four years and brw, I was the first one to get Bernie too. I'm trying but who is knew to bring. I had Roger two years ago before anyone else. He was $50,000 and he did fine, but I think Mo does better. My Yankee show has never had Mo. I know JP's had him. He didn't do well at all there and that's bc they had him already. It's notorious, whenever I've never had a player they do well the first time.
What abt Grame Lloyd? He wants to come. $5,000. Does he help th show. No ones ever had him.
Thanks Boz

In my opinion, the guy to take the shot on is Kenny Rogers. I have no idea what his asking price is. But a few things are true. Nobody has ever had him. He is needed on most 1996 Yankees team pieces. He is needed on most Perfect Game pieces. I'd personally be in on him for 4 items. I think he would sell a ton of tickets at the same price as Cone. Not a guy you would bring in for multiple shows - but I am certain that his first appearance would kill it.

I posted a few days ago when someone asked why Griffey doesn't do shows so I will reiterate what I said before. Everyone is throwing out these names of guys they want to see without ever considering that the reason you're not seeing them is they don't want to do signings. Lou you asked for Ichiro. Great choice, I would also love to see him. His net worth - 120 million. Guess what? We ain't gonna see him.
Mollie gave us an example that Dick Tidrow won't accept $15.000. The guys that will do shows for a reasonable price are the guys that we've all seen. That's probably another reason why she's not doing as many shows. Only the same guys will do shows and they don't sell. I'm a long time collector going back to the National Pastime shows. I remember a show every weekend, and sometimes going to two shows in one day. Those days are long gone.
